Over 200 kids and teens from schools across Brisbane have improved their academic and sports performance, feel calmer, more confident and experience a more fulfilling and enjoyable home life as a result of participating in the Confident Kids program.

Three TeenagersThe Confident Kids and Teens programs incorporate 35 learning objectives so kids/teens develop 5 core social and emotional competencies including Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Motivation, Empathy, Social skills and Mindful Awareness skills. The program incorporates well researched Cognitive-Behavioural strategies and techniques, as well Mindful Awareness skills.

Mindful Awareness involves learning how to pay attention in the present moment without judgement so we can notice what is going on inside us. By becoming more aware of our thoughts, feelings and body sensations from moment to moment, we learn how to be less reactive and focus our attention on helpful ways to think and respond.

In recent years mindfulness practices have been incorporated into the mainstream of Medicine and health care. In fact, research has found that practicing mindful awareness leads to a significant improvement in general well-being, emotional reactivity (e.g. mood, anxiety), and physical health (e.g. immune response).
