Confident Kids and Teens is an evidence-based resiliency group program for children and teens designed to teach life skills to boost emotional resilience, self-esteem and confidence. The focus is on wellbeing, emotional health and increasing self-esteem. Confident Kids fosters children's problem solving ability, goal setting and social behaviours. Since 2006, over 200 kids and teens from schools across Brisbane have improved their academic and sports performance, feel calmer, more confident and experience a more fulfilling and enjoyable home life as a result of participating in the Confident Kids program.
Mindfulness practices have been incorporated into the mainstream of Medicine and health care. Recent research suggests that teaching children mindfulness skills improves academic performance, bolsters confidence, optimism and enthusiasm for learning. Mindful Awareness involves learning how to pay attention in the present moment without judgement so we can notice what is going on inside us. By becoming more aware of our thoughts, feelings and body sensations from moment to moment, we learn how to be less reactive and focus our attention on helpful ways to think and respond. The program incorporate 35 learning objectives into fun and engaging activities to help kids and teens develop 5 core social and emotional competencies including Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Motivation, Empathy and Social skills.
The CK MissionOur mission is to teach and promote social and emotional skills as well as Mindful awareness skills, in order to help children and families lead smarter, healthier and happier lives. |
